Galoshins and The Dirty Cuts at Nice'n'Sleazys

Galoshins

On Friday night the Edinburgh label, 17 Seconds, hosted a night at Glasgow venue Nice'n'Sleazys. Unfortunately, we missed the first act, The Wildhouse, although I did receive a copy of their "manifesto", which is pretty cool.

Galoshins were on next. With an organ sound similar to The Doors combined with some elements of early Talking Heads, they were quite a treat. They definitely have their own sound. I think "Spray'ed with Blood" is my favourite track while "The 4th Chord" sounds like the perfect soundtrack to an underground Halloween party.

Next were the headliners, The Dirty Cuts. I have to say that while I like them on record, I love their live set. They are brilliant performers. They reminded me of The Modern Lovers and sometimes, The Stooges. I rarely dance in public, but their songs got my friends and I to dance around like no tomorrow. That's how good they are.

They finished up with a cover of Blondie's "Atomic" which was a perfect end to a perfect evening.
