My band Factory Kids, have released our 2nd album via Tara Records.
The album is much more electro-pop than the self-titled debut. Influences for this album include a wide range of artists, from Spacemen 3 to the Pet Shop Boys. Have a listen yourself, by downloading it on iTunes.

The new Factory Kids EP, entitled "One", is out today on Edinburgh label 17 Seconds. The EP has already gotten praise from popmatters.com, with their writer Maria Schurr describing it better than I ever could. For those who don't click, a couple things she says include the title track "One" being a clattery ode with '60s undertones and that Factory Kids create music perfect for headphones, not earbuds.
Back in May 2009, Factory Kids released their debut self-titled album featuring the track "You Gotta Rain" (you can hear the original on our myspace). Now in 2010, electro darlings Screen Vinyl Image have remixed the track, giving it an atmospheric electronic touch that only they can do. It is one of the few remixes I've heard that actually gets better as it goes along...
The track is just a preview of the upcoming Factory Kids remix album, Beautiful Distortion, which features remixes by Jimmy Lee (Trailer Trash Tracys), Nick Duffy (Lilac Time), Richard Formby (producer, Spacemen 3/The Telescopes), Jo Barlett (it's Jo and Danny), David R. (Eulogy Inn) + many more. The album is being released independently by Tim and myself and will be out soon on iTunes.

My band, Factory Kids, will be releasing our 2nd EP with Edinburgh label 17 Seconds Records on 5th April! Even though it's "EP2" it will be called "One" after it's title track. It's a very catchy track and reminds me of a 1950s (or early 1960s) pop track. At the risk of sounding self-important, it really is a great tune....
An Taobh Tuahnail Vol. III, a compilation from the popular RTE radio show hosted by Cian O'Ciobhain, is now released in the UK! The album has gotten some great reviews since its Irish release in November 2009, and features popular indie bands such as Animal Collective and Peter And The Wolf. My band Factory Kids is also featured on it, with a Luminous remix of our track "Look After Everyone".

As of today, the new Factory Kids' EP, "EP1", is out on 17 Seconds Records! Recorded in both New York City and Warwickshire, England, the EP goes from alt. country jangle to melancholy pop, appealing to a wide range of music lovers. Tracks from the EP are already playing on radio stations in France, California and Ireland.
Last year my band Factory Kids released a mixtape. Due to myspace being fussy on direct linking to sendspace, etc....it wasn't around for long.
The mixtape includes tracks from artists such as Spectrum, the Happy Mondays, Santigold, Black Sabbath, Pet Shop Boys, Bob Dylan, Telepathe, MGMT and many, many more.....so here it is, back again, for you all to enjoy...
Factory Kids have been signed to 17 Seconds Records! Based in Edinburgh, the label is run by Ed, one of the nicest guys I have met in this industry. We look forward to working with them.

Although I live in the UK, I'm an American by nationality and therefore today I'm celebrating Thanksgiving (or "Cheersgiving", as it's the name of the party I'm attending tonight). Besides stuffing our faces and watching (American) football, some people actually do think about what they're thankful for! This is my list, regarding music & art:
♥ The fact that the Manic Street Preachers finally released an album with lyrics left from their departed friend and bandmate Richey Edwards. Journal for Plague Lovers is not only arguably their best album since 1994's The Holy Bible, but they managed to pull it off with class and as a testiment of love toward both missing and celebrating their old friend.
♥ That I got to see The Big Pink perform at the tiny venue of King Tut's Wah Wah Hut just at the moment they became a "well-known" band (at least within the UK indie community)
♥ In 2009 there can be pop stars like Lady Gaga, who are so pretentious and over-the-top being "arty", that it goes full circle into becoming absolutely ricdulous (see the "Bad Romance" video for an example). To clarify, I do like some Lady Gaga tunes...and I'd probably like her more if she wasn't everywhere....I also think that if Andy Warhol was alive today, he'd love her.
♥ 2004 Turner Prize winner Jeremy Deller and film-maker Nicholas Abrahams will begin screening their new Depeche Mode documentary, The Posters Came From The Walls, on December 1st in selected UK cities. I especially find this clip from the documentary really fascinating in terms of band fandom...and it's pretty cute!
♥ That I'm able to express creativity in my band Factory Kids and that we just got an album review in US magazine, The Big Takeover!
♥ The NME this week (with Florence + The Machine on the cover) includes an interview with Jason Pierce of Spiritualized (I'm a huge fan) and also a great review for the new album by The Brothers Movement, a Dublin-based band that's worked harder than most and definitely deserves recognition.
There's much more I'm thankful for today....but I'll leave it with that...
I'm proud to say that my band Factory Kids (singer/songwriter Tim Chaplin is the other half of FK) as well as bands such as Animal Collective, Peter & The Wolf and The Caretaker, among others, are featured on a compilation album compiled by superstar DJ Cian O Ciobhain. It's the third compliation he's put together so far. You can currently get a hold of the CD in selected Dublin indie shops, with other outlets in Ireland to follow. Alternatively, just pop over to the Psychonavigation Records site and order direct. We're told the album will get a full UK release next February. Oh, and it's entitled 'An Taobh Tuathail Vol III', and the Factory Kids' track is a Luminous remix of 'Look After Everyone'. The original version of which was included on the Factory Kids' debut album, out earlier this year.
Factory Kids have released a new double A-side single, "Not Enough/Analog Dream" on Odd Box Records, who write:
"They’ve been gaining a reputation as exciting pioneers of experimental pop music. With contributions on compilations released by Unexplainable Recordings, Series Two Records and their debut LP has just been released by Powertool Records.
The single is a two tracker and features two cracking songs that fuzz and crackle with beats and distortion. This is beautiful pop music that defies easy classifaction. There are nods to Flying Saucer Attack, Massive Attack and The Third Eye Foundation – but this band really needs to be heard. This is pop music for the 21st Century."
