Introducing a new shoegaze band from Northern California, Whirl sounds like an interesting mix of My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth and Ringo Deathstarr with vocals reminiscent of 90s Britpop band Lush.
Their track "Leave" is a beautiful whirlwind of dream pop while "Meaningless" sounds like a song you'd discover in an London underground indie club circa 1992 (ie, it's very good). Bands with this much promise don't come around too often.
Listen for yourself at Whirl's myspace.
